New York City Mayor Eric Adams recently announced the much-anticipated return of the 'Rise Up NYC' summer concert series, a vibrant initiative bringing free outdoor concerts to New Yorkers across all five boroughs. Now in its third season, the concert series—produced in collaboration with the Office of the Mayor and Globe Star Media—is expanding significantly, aiming to inspire New Yorkers to come together and uplift their city through music.
A Celebration of Culture and Community
One of the highlights of this summer's series will take place on Wednesday, August 21st, when multi-award-winning Salsa singer and composer Víctor Manuelle will be honored with the ‘Entertainers’ Key to the City of New York’ by Mayor Adams. The ceremony, set to occur at Orchard Beach in the Bronx, will be followed by a celebratory performance in front of thousands of fans.
Víctor Manuelle: A Legend of Latin Music
Known as “El Sonero de la Juventud,” Víctor Manuelle has established himself as one of the most successful salsa performers of all time. His albums have sold over a million copies in the U.S., and he holds five Guinness World Records for his achievements in the music industry. Manuelle has charted an impressive 47 singles on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and holds the record for the most number-one hits (29) on the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart. Additionally, he has the most charting hits (78) and Top 10 hits (62) on the Tropical Airplay chart.
Social Commitment Beyond Music
Beyond his musical success, Víctor Manuelle is also known for his strong commitment to social causes. Since 2015, he has served as the spokesperson for the De Frente al Alzheimer Foundation. Through this organization, Manuelle has helped provide critical support to over 400 Puerto Rican families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. The foundation’s efforts include funding for caregiver services, medical care, adult diapers, medications, and medical equipment, making a significant impact on the lives of those in need.
A Night of Music and Unity
Reflecting on the upcoming honor, Manuelle expressed his gratitude to Mayor Adams and his excitement to reconnect with the Hispanic community in New York City. “With great honor I thank Mayor Adams for this recognition and for allowing me to meet again with the Hispanic public of New York City, in an event as significant as 'Rise Up.' I’m very excited to present my show and celebrate a night full of music and energy with the Latin community,” said Manuelle.
The 'Rise Up NYC' concert series continues to be a powerful symbol of community and cultural pride in New York City, offering residents a chance to come together and celebrate through music. With Víctor Manuelle’s participation, this season promises to be one of the most memorable yet.
