Humbe, the rising star of the Mexican pop wave, has experienced exponential growth since the beginning of 2021. From being one of the most promising talents in the industry, he has transformed into a musical icon with chart-topping popularity throughout Latin America. Now, Humbe presents his highly anticipated fourth album, "ESENCIA," a vibrant and emotionally charged production that celebrates love, determination, and self-confidence.
The album showcases a more mature side of Humbe, from the emotional "sanvalentín:(" to the empowering single "LO LOGRÉ," which premieres with an official video. Written and co-produced alongside his brother Emiliano Rodríguez and Na'vi, "ESENCIA" is a consequence and evolution of his breakthrough hits like "EL POETA," "Te Conocí en Japón," and "AMOR DE CINE," which recently obtained Gold certification.
Humbe's previous "El Poeta Tour" saw the singer captivate audiences with 25 sold-out shows across Mexico, including a memorable performance at the iconic Teatro Metropólitan.
"I didn't want to release anything until I felt an evolution in my sound," explains the regiomontano artist, who signed with Sony Music Mexico two years ago, released two albums, and received a Latin Grammy nomination. "It was an extraordinary journey, but I believe that to keep moving forward and growing, you have to transform. On this album, we decided not to limit ourselves. And to achieve that, I had to delve into my own history: to deliver my essence to them."
The album's cover art features the phrase "The essential is invisible to the eyes," created by Cuban artist Reynier Llanes. This artwork, titled "El Poeta," shares its name with Humbe's viral single from 2020. Both the painting and the single were created during the pandemic, and in 2022, the paths of Humbe and Llanes crossed to add the final touch to "ESENCIA." This captivating piece symbolizes and represents the concept of the album—a profound journey through Humbe's emotions, stories, and experiences, making it his most personal work to date.
With "ESENCIA," Humbe invites his listeners to celebrate love, embrace their inner strength, and exude self-confidence. The album's emotional depth and vibrant pop atmospheres demonstrate the regiomontano artist's growth and evolution, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in the music industry.
As Humbe continues to make his mark, his dedication to artistic transformation and authenticity sets him apart as an artist who sings his truth and leaves an indelible impression on the hearts of his audience. "ESENCIA" is a testament to his musical prowess and a glimpse into the bright future that lies ahead for this remarkable talent.
What is the story behind the name of the album, ESENCIA?
This album is precisely about all the things I had to go through to create the essence that I have today.
How has it been working with your brother Emiliano Rodríguez and Na'vi in the production of ESENCIA?
It has been incredible working with them. I love that I have clicked so well with Na'vi, and writing with my brother is always beautiful to me. So it was very nice to write and work on this album with them.
What is your favorite song from the album and why?
There is no favorite song for me on this album. For me, all the songs are special, very different from each other. So they are all my favorites for that reason, because each one is about me.
How has your evolution as an artist been from your beginnings in 2021 until now?
I have produced many things since then, I have continued to practice singing a lot, I have been present at different awards, different events... And I think this has made me grow and made me understand the industry a little more, see how it is. I am still new to all of this, so I think it's important to understand each aspect. Today, I consider myself a much more mature person, much more knowledgeable about everything that is happening and also what is to come. And also a much more confident person in the project I have. With a more concrete mindset of where I want to go.
How do you feel about obtaining the Gold certification for "AMOR DE CINE"?
Incredible, I feel very happy! The truth is that these certifications are something very beautiful to me. It feels really nice to have these recognitions.
What lessons did you learn from your experience with "El Poeta Tour"?
Well, starting with how difficult it is to go on a tour. It's extensive and complicated because there are many things you have to take care of. But I take away all those things and the lessons of what I don't want to do in the next tour and what I do want to do.
How was it to offer 25 sold-out shows in Mexico, including the Teatro Metropólitan?
I still can't believe it. I can't believe that happened. The truth is, I don't know what world I'm living in for this to be a reality. That people are excited to come and sing my songs with me. Songs that I wrote with my own hand. It's beautiful for me that they come to sing them with me.
How did you feel about receiving a nomination for the Latin GRAMMYs?
It was beautiful. For me, it's beautiful to receive this kind of nomination because it makes me feel that the impact I'm having is not only within my circle but also at an industry level, and that is very important for an artist and a producer.
What has been the biggest challenge you faced during the creation of this album?
The entire change and mental experimentation that I have gone through. And the truth is, life, especially at this age, is about experimenting. There has been a lot of that to find, and keep finding, my essence.
How would you like to be remembered in the music industry in the years to come?
As an artist who knew exactly what he wanted to do and who always sang his truth.
