Marshmello, the Grammy-nominated artist and producer, has released a new single titled "Esta Vida," which translates to "This Life," in collaboration with Puerto Rican singer and rapper Farruko. The two artists surprised their fans with a debut performance of the track, closing out Marshmello’s Ultra Music Festival headline set on the main stage in front of more than 50,000 fans on March 26.
The official music video for "Esta Vida," directed by Justice Silvera, shows the duality of Farruko living two lives: one as a man who is homeless and another as a celebrity surrounded by fame and fortune before his descent.
The release of "Esta Vida" comes alongside the success of Marshmello's latest hit collaboration with Manuel Turizo. "El Merengue" has scored more than 87.5 million combined streams in its first month and has reached prominent placements on Spotify's Global Top 50 (#43) and Apple Music's Latin Top 50. The tropical sounds of the song have won over the hearts of fans, trending in the Top 5 on YouTube and scoring Shazam's #5 Latin song (+ #60 overall song). It's currently #1 on the Tropical Airplay Chart, a new first for Marshmello. Fans can watch Marshmello's Ultra Music Festival set where fans sang and danced along to "El Merengue."
These Latin collaborations mark a new era of Spanish music releases for Marshmello. During his recent EDC Mexico performance, he teased yet another unreleased track alongside Mexican artists Fuerza Regida and Peso Pluma. Marshmello revealed that he's "Working on myself…and a new album…" via his Instagram, and later posted a photo with Anuel, leaving fans to speculate about what's next to come from the Grammy-nominated artist in the Latin space as 2023 unfolds.
Marshmello continues to demonstrate his versatility as an artist, and his dedication to exploring new sounds and collaborations cements his position as a leading figure in the music industry.
