Discover the Heart of Brooklyn’s Bed-Stuy Neighborhood Through Winona’s

Nestled in the heart of New York City’s Brooklyn borough, is one of its largest neighborhoods: Bedford-Stuyvesant, better known as Bed Stuy. Bed-Stuy combines a small-town vibe with big-city energy, with historic brownstones, tree-lined streets, and charming shops that create an intimate, community-oriented atmosphere.  From art and cultural events to diverse culinary experiences, Bed-Stuy is a hub of creativity, where family-run restaurants – like Winona’s, serve more than just meals; they are communal spaces for sharing stories and laughter.

VIBE

Winona’s began as an extension of the supper clubs that partners Cressida Greening and Emir Dupeyron hosted in their apartment next door, where they brought friends and strangers together around a single long table. The stylish industrial Winona’s was designed as an extension of their home and offers guests a convivial experience where lingering over dessert or conversation is encouraged.

Serving as both a bar and a restaurant, with a European-inspired menu crafted by Executive Chef Alex Pineiro, Winona’s offers a range of experiences. Enjoy shareable plates and snacks at the Front Bar or unwind in the light-filled Back Room for a full dinner, where dishes balance global influences with comforting classics. Whether popping in for a glass of wine or settling in for a meal, the welcoming vibe and seasonal flavors make Winona’s an inviting neighborhood spot.

EAT & DRINK

Start the evening in the Front Bar with a cocktail, like the light and refreshing Brooklyn Spritz – made  with red aperitivo, orange, turmeric, and topped with sparkling wine, or the boozy-forward Forest Old Fashioned – stirred with mushroom infused bourbon, scotch, Pedro Ximenez sherry, and chocolate bitters. Do order the Chorizo Scotch Egg, served with mustard and cornichons.

For dinner, make your way to the Back Room, and order a bottle of wine with the Half Chicken, or the Ribeye Steak served with Café de Paris butter sauce. Winona’s pages-long wine book can be a bit overwhelming to navigate, but, for Red blend lovers, we recommend Chateau Massereau ‘Cuvée K’, a Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon blend from Bordeaux.
