The Journey So Far

Diego started working in the nightlife scene at the age of 19. The nightlife scene can be a daunting prospect for anyone, yet Diego's ambition quickly earned him recognition in the industry. After finding his footing in the Miami nightlife scene, Diego moved into a different industry entirely, aerospace.

Some might ask why; however, Diego reveals that it was a move motivated by personal growth. During his 5 years in the aerospace industry, Diego learned business development and traveled the world selling airplane services in places like Africa, Europe, and South America. This brought in a lot of business for aerospace companies in the United States!

After his work in the aerospace industry, Diego decided to focus on bringing his wealth of experience and knowledge back home. He used his knowledge in business development to start a healthcare company. He sold this business right before the pandemic in 2019 for 7 figures and started planning to invest in different  industries.

During the pandemic, Diego noticed that there was a void left in the entertainment industry, and he wanted to find a way to fill it. With his business acumen, Diego teamed up with his 3 friends, Gino Gomez, Erick Espinal and Youssef Erian to form Hurry Up Slowly as an independent label and festival company; with the goal of creating positive change within the electronic music industry by providing diverse genres and empowering artists from all backgrounds.

In late 2020, his company held its first show and had almost 3000 attendees after just a matter of days of promotion. Since then, Hurry Up Slowly has grown exponentially, and Diego plans to continue giving it his all to grow it with strategic partnerships and collaborations. So far, he's also ventured into artist management and has worked and is still working with stars like Calussa, Malone, and Black Circle under his management company Algorythms Entertainment.

A Day In The Life

It is a well-known fact that to be successful in life, you have to be pretty organized and also have a good work-life balance. This is no different for Diego, who wakes up early daily to meditate before sitting down to answer emails and plan his day.

As  Chief Strategy Officer of Hurry Up Slowly, he has many responsibilities, such as developing strategies, creating content, researching potential partners and artists, lineups, and different experiences for the crowd. During the afternoons, you might find Deigo working out or playing tennis. As a busy entrepreneur, it is often difficult to find the time to stay healthy, but Diego sees it as an important part of his mindset. Spending time with family is also an important part of Deigo's life. Family time is crucial to his ability to stay focused and work efficiently.

After this, he spends time working on other branches of his business and networking. Finding and building with the right people to work with is crucial in business, and Diego puts a lot of time into finding the best people for the job. He believes that having the right team will help ensure success in any venture.

Goals And Vision

As for Diego's goals, he wants to take his artist management company to a whole new level. Regularly meeting with artists and providing them with the tools they need to succeed is something he holds in high regard. He strongly believes that artist management should make the artist feel at home and provide them with the resources they need to succeed, from developing strategies to bridging the gap between the underground scene and other genres, such as the Spanish music industry.

His goal is for his brands to be highly recognized as one of the most efficient entertainment platforms in the world. Asides from that, he is already working on putting Hurry Up Slowly into the spotlight by establishing their boutique festival presence in more high demand markets around the world . Their intimate event is more than just a music experience. It is an artistic meetup that promotes a sense of community between artists, fans, and music lovers. Growth is the inspiration behind this festival, but not just the brand's growth but attendees as well.

Views On The Entertainment Scene

After the pandemic, the music and entertainment scene witnessed exponential business growth and more people than ever before tuning into their favorite music festivals. Being locked in at home for months on end meant the thirst for live entertainment had reached unprecedented heights.

Diego believes that he is very fortunate to be in the underground music scene right now. For years, this genre of music was not very popular and was seen as anti-establishment. But recently, it has been more commercialized, and the demographic of people that were more into EDM 5 years ago are now listening to Tech house and underground music.

Never has there been a time when the house music scene has been so alive and vibrant. According to Diego, the scene is only going to get bigger as new artists, DJs, genres, and subgenres pop up all over the world.

On Mentality

Diego shares that he's never been someone who cared much about what others thought of him; he listens to his intuition and goes with it. Despite being in the industry for over several years, he is still as passionate as ever, and his enthusiasm is contagious.

One of his favorite quotes sheds more light on his mentality. It goes: "If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses."

This quote comes from Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motors, and it is something that Diego lives by. He believes that you have to think outside the box and go out of your comfort zone, even if it means challenging people's ideas of what is possible. There is no room for complacency in the ever-changing entertainment industry, and Diego embraces change with open arms.

Although Diego is known for his grind set mentality, he is also known to offer a helping hand to anyone who needs it. He has been actively helping young underground artists grow, reach new audiences, and even get their music on platforms. Diego believes in creating an environment of growth and collaboration. His support for the up-and-coming generation allows them to express themselves freely and experiment with different sounds that might go unheard by the mainstream crowd.

Lessons Learned Along The Way

Over the years, Diego has learned some valuable lessons that he treasures and continues to apply in his business. One lesson that has stuck with him is that an "L" isn't a loss as it is known conventionally. To him, taking an L means learning a lesson.

He acknowledges that his journey hasn't been easy, and he has had to take a few steps back in order to move forward. Harsh lessons are necessary in order to grow and learn from mistakes. He believes that one should focus on the process rather than the end result. It's not about getting to the top; it's about everything you do to get there and how you develop along the way.

Another lesson he has learned is to work in silence. He believes that when you are working on something, it's best to keep it in the shadows until the right time. This doesn't mean that you should not share what you are doing, but it's important to keep things under wraps until they are ready.
