Director's Vision

Daniel André, the filmmaker behind Running on Empty, describes the film as an "anti-rom com" with a strong independent film sensibility, reminiscent of the offbeat, timeless movies he cherished growing up in the 80s and 90s. Drawing inspiration from classics like After Hours, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Punch Drunk Love, André aimed to craft a film that blends humor, heart, and a touch of nostalgia. He credits the film's unique tone and character-driven narrative to the exceptional cast, describing the experience on set as akin to "a never-ending summer camp."

About the Filmmaker

Born in Cuernavaca, Mexico, and raised in New Jersey, Daniel André is a multifaceted filmmaker, artist, and music producer with a rich background in acting and a degree in Film & Digital Arts. Running on Empty marks his first feature film, produced under his own Analog 77 Films. André is currently working on his next project, The Last Will, a biopic based on the memoir CURED- The Tale of Two Imaginary Boys by Lol Tolhurst, a founding member of The Cure.
