FAME Magazine Exclusive Interview with Esther Anaya
- Can you tell us a little bit about your upcoming song, and what inspired you to create it?
My upcoming song, Sweet Dreams, has been one of my favorite songs of all time. I was inspired by the reaction of the crowd every time they would hear the song in performance. That’s why I decided to create an original version where I could perform and sing the song live. In collaboration with Visual Remixes, the creation of this song has a very unique component. Believe it or not, the drop melody was created by the frequency of the leaves of a plant connected to ableton. This makes the song very special for us.
- You have such a diverse background in music, from classical to pop and Latin. How have these different genres influenced your sound and style?
These genres have influenced my sound by giving me the tools to form a unique dynamic during my sets. Incorporation of the violin which is categorized as a classical instrument however is being utilized across genres gives me the creative freedom to express myself without limitation, and think outside the box. As a Colombian born and American raised artist, I ensure that all the genres which have influenced me are infused in my sound.
- Your performances are known for their emotional and visually stunning productions. Can you walk us through your creative process when putting together a show?
The first thing I do is study my performance environment and who my audience will be. I then create a music selection that embodies my brand and at the same time caters to my fans. My performances are high energy, highlighted by violin with songs that connect with the crowd. When it’s allowing, I like incorporating dancers to add on the music. I also enjoy singing my original music throughout the show which adds further depth to the performance.
- You've shared the stage with some huge names in the industry, from Rihanna to Snoop Dogg. Is there anyone in particular that you haven't worked with yet, but would love to collaborate with?
That’s a difficult question because there’s many. I have some favorites in each genre who I dream of collaborating with. To just name a few, I would love to collaborate with Drake, Bruno Mars, Zedd and Karol G.
- Can you share with us three fun facts about yourself that fans might not otherwise know about you?
Yes! A fun fact is I graduated from College with a degree in business management & HR. Which I’ve never used except in my music business. Another one is that my taste for food is so eclectic, for example the weirder the food is the more I want to try it. One last fun fact I’ll cue you into is that I used to take boxing classes, and I have a mean right hook..so you better watch out! (laughs)
- You have an album set to release this summer. Can you give us a sneak peek into what we can expect from it?
Well, I can tell you it will be spicy! It will make you dance and bring the energy. There will be some great collaborations planned for it, and upcoming tours so that my fans can join me while I perform it live.
