The ceremony, held at the luxurious Beverly Wilshire Hotel, celebrates the outstanding contributions and achievements of songwriters and publishers across Latin music for their exceptional work over the past year. Barrera also shared the Regional Mexican Songwriter of the Year award with Horacio Palencia, having each written six of BMI's most-performed regional Mexican songs over the past year.
